About the performers
From Ska classics and Motown favorites to Reggae throwbacks & pop sing-a-longs, the Dead Bettys are an exciting Ska/Punk band spawned from the vibrant arts and music scene in Lawrence, Ks. A full horn section distinguishes this unit as they honor the tradition of Rock, Ska, Blues, and jazz for a fresh, midwestern twist. Anchored by veteran Lawrence musicians, Aaron Riffel (bass) and Patrick Broxterman (drums), The Dead Bettys are built from the ground up with a solid drum rhythm section foundation. Next up are a guitar duo extraordinaire of Rory Harms and Bennett Kinder giving the 1-2 punch to the sonic assault. Let’s not forget the power-packed full horn section composed of Cole Bichelmeyer (trumpet), Jon Heeb (trombone), Andrew Ramaley (trombone & vocals), Andy Groneman (trumpet), Leron Gray (bari sax), and Joe Vaglio (sax & vocals) give The Dead Bettys their classic but distinct and unique sound. And last but not least, the incomparable Beth Romano is the vocal “breath of fresh air” this hard-charging unit needs to create a complete party package. Venue seating
The auditorium has 186 seats, including 104 general admission theater seats, 26 reserved theater seats, and 56 seats at 15 different tables.
What we offer our patrons
The Aztec Shawnee Theater has NO advanced ticketing fees!! The price you see online is the price you pay! Ticket pricing does increase the day of the show. Tables with seats that include admission to the venue are available (while supplies last) either in the VIP section, or near the front of the stage.
Food and Beverage options INCLUDING A FULL BAR
Our full bar includes domestic & craft beer, as well as a full selection of alcohol and specialty drinks. Soft drinks, popcorn, and snacks are also available at the bar, and outside food from the local downtown Shawnee restaurants and grills can be brought into the venue (we love helping to support our businesses friends in downtown Shawnee). No outside drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) are allowed in the venue.
